The Hidden Heart
A Liturgical Poem for June
There’s a Secret in the things around us,
a hidden Treasure, giving us Life and Meaning.
A Treasure, hidden for many of us,
Abiding and knowing all of us.
Some call it Magic, others call it Inspiration or the Invisible World,
still others are blind and deaf to it.
But oh what sadness for those who have forgotten to look.
It is our true Sun, our Oxygen and living Water:
it holds the Earth together.
One day years ago, I started praying
that the secrets of His Heart may be revealed to me.
I asked it every day.
Then one day, the answer came:
A Deer, thirsting for water,
A Heart, pierced for love of us,
beating Life into creation,
shining with Light brighter than the sun,
holding us for eternity.
He is here, He is everywhere,
waiting, knocking on our hearts,
burning with desire to be known and loved.
It is the biggest Treasure of the world
and it is unknown to us.
Will you look for the Treasure?
Will you find the Hidden Heart?

Beautiful! ♥️
I have seen the sun break through
to illuminate a small field
for a while, and gone my way
and forgotten it. But that was the
pearl of great price, the one field that had
treasure in it. I realise now
that I must give all that I have
to possess it. Life is not hurrying
on to a receding future, nor hankering after
an imagined past. It is the turning
aside like Moses to the miracle
of the lit bush, to a brightness
that seemed as transitory as your youth
once, but is the eternity that awaits you.
